In an exclusive gin-making workshop held at Port Arthur on the Tasman Peninsula.
Round up a minimum of 4 people to create your very own gin using your recipes, in an international award-winning craft distillery. Gourmet Traveller Magazine has also described William McHenry's Classic Dry Gin as “far and away the prettiest, most harmonious and enchanting gin we’ve tasted… makes an amazingly refined G&T”. Created by Bespoke Tasmania along with Bill McHenry these are the only workshops of their kind in Australia and possibly the world. The distillation process is fascinating and beautiful.
You may care to bring your own botanicals or try our extensive range, perhaps some Tasmanian lemon myrtle or pepper-berry, a smidge of saffron or loomi lime? You decide!
And, Kim has arranged for you to take your fine spirit along to Henry Jones Art Hotel Bar or MACq o1 and the clever mixologists will create a bespoke cocktail just for you and give you the recipe to take home. House-guests free. Please contact Kim for arrangements.
Workshops are held on Fridays 11.00am to 3.00pm by appointment – Minimum 4 people

Then learn the story of gin, do you know how the word proof came about? Hint: think gun-powder!
Savour and sip famous brands, with expert guidance to identify the principal flavourings (botanicals) and your preferences.
Gain insight into the McHenry's Distillery range, including;
a rare barrel-aged gin produced the same way as solera sherries, the smooth flavour of 10-20 year old gin is underway and then we come to sloe gin, from that vibrant rich red berry harvested yearly.
Next (the fun keeps coming) we head up to Mt Arthur to see:
pure spring water bubbling straight out of the mountain – the essence of McHenry's quality spirits.
fine water views including South to Antarctica, and the "bothy" (Scottish name for small dwelling in remote location – you will love the red door, everyone does).
a special lunch follows with delicious local seasonal picnic fare flavour matched to gin – who says you can't drink a G&T with lunch? We teach you how.
Then it's time for the inspiration for your own distillation:
an experienced distiller will discuss your preferred recipe, it's not as easy as you may think, before selecting your choice of botanicals – an eagle eye is needed.
Finally, depart with 500mL of your own Bespoke distilled gin, labelled with your recipe, plus 200mL of award-winning McHenry's Classic Dry Gin.

Workshops must have a minimum of four people on the day. However if we have four people on the day your booking is valid for 12 months and readily transferable to friends or relatives.
We try to be flexible but please arrive by 11.00am in consideration of other participants. After 11.30am places will be forfeited, or incur a $100 fee per place if rescheduled. Should you need to cancel, please give us as much warning as possible. If for any reason, we cancel a workshop, fully paid participants will receive a full refund.
